Heavenly
We slip to our quarters. A poem once misdirected settles into place, like the stars rewinding back, to a time of peace forgotten. I whisper this poem in your ear, as courtship more than an attempt to change the tides. "Curled in the dark Stirring softly on our bed Wholly unaware My nightmare ceases Seeming to take a lifetime Mimicking my life I touch your shoulder Stroking your hair as you sleep So glad to be here Always hearing you Your voice my one saving grace Even when it's dark Each time seeing you Like a new experience Now they'll all be new Perhaps familiar But the meaning understood As you lay with me Playing in my mind A reminder not to stray From heavenly grace For now, I rejoice God is as good as He seemed And heaven, perfect."
