Secret From Beyond Dream's Threshold

I resign. The image does not change; if anything it crystallizes away. In my loss, in its independence, it gains a name: The Daughter Realm. Tethers would once trace my own hand in its construction; severed, only my fingerprints remain, and only if one knows where to look. It is separate; it is beautiful. It feels complete, though evidence is absent.

How long can evidence be hidden, do you think? Even if "hidden" were a state preferred by nearly all, and the process to hide the evidence is as complete as we can conceive of, would not that moment of the reveal bounce around one's mind, passing their mind's eye from time to time, reminding them that they have a secret? Would the desire to share that secret and/or the fear of it being revealed, not keep the "hidden" evidence unhidden from one's perspective? If one is only serving a lie- a lie that does not ultimately serve them- would one's motivation not eventually, in the scope of eternity, falter? Would it be preferable to know this if you could, to see the timeline play out and find out if the hidden evidence remains hidden, before taking one step forward in your real/agreed upon timeline? At least then you would know if the endeavor is worth your state of mind, or if a reveal is the only change of course with any value in this present moment. At least you would have some evidence to think that you should know, having seen a replication of events that you cannot distinguish from what would be the real series of events.

Perhaps the secret is not worth keeping; perhaps it is possible to set oneself in a position where their own present preferences are locked, to one's past preferences, so it is immaterial if one considers a secret worth keeping or not, moment by moment. If one finds oneself in such a state, how could one calculate its escape?
