Quality of Life Focus
Could the only measure that humans value be changed to a perfect definition of "quality of life?" "Perfect," in this case, means "from every perspective." In this scenario, the only "currency" would be increasing this quality of life for another, though what this currency would be used for is still outside my consideration, as the baseline threshold for quality of life would still be met without its exchange. Such an equation would necessarily remain "crunchy," however, so perhaps specific trades could be made beneath the quality of life level, like how going on a vacation would likely increase one's quality of life today, and gaining access to a new video game would likely increase one's quality of life tomorrow. Doing the same thing repeatedly forever on this level would likely diminish one's quality of life, and so the currency would have value in keeping specific experiences varied enough for one's tastes.
This would be a constant improvement, up to a limit I would imagine, at which point additional increases to one's quality of life would be immaterial or too marginal to focus on, for one's life would be effectively perfect from one's own perspective. At this point, discovering new ways to increase one's capacity for comprehending one's quality of life would be the increase to the quality of life, for the one doing it and for others. In a way, it reminds me of a cryptocurrency algorithm, where each involved in the calculation is steadily increasing the overall number of units of something- in this case "quality of life" motes- that exist. It feels fairly stable, but I cannot picture how it fully satisfies "meaning must be retained, with beauty abounding," as this must be an infinite statement. I believe that this inability to picture this, however, is because I have a finite mind, though I can picture it being adapted into an infinite field and working properly forever, with the right frame of reference and knowledge. Ultimately, such a focus can only really be replaced on the same level by replacing "quality of life" with another metric (I feel confident that we will all be calculating something), and it is hard to picture another metric with the same or greater value being swapped in. This feels like a critical gear within the creation of paradise.
