Time To Shine

This ain't about the brag, this is more a lament

It might seem like you beat me, you may feel like you won
As I smile weakly maybe adding "well done"

It's a sure fire sign that we're in the wrong place
And I can't break your heart or see that look on your face

Cuz these games are all petty and the prizes are dumb
I feel like I've seen all this shit before and my soul has gone numb

So stack up that paper and bathe in that gold
Maybe it'll bring you comfort while the heart has gone cold

The fire's out, the smoke's a blanket, we think we're secured
But time's a record, death tracks no commas, yet every word's heard

When this period's over you will hear the bell
And you're gonna need the fool's hope to save you from hell

I got too much to say in way too short a time
But nobody reads the words I write so I'll say them in rhyme

You can love your neighbor and hate a system
Save every sheep and burn the stable

You can still save the world with a devil at your table
Love your enemy (...)

You might like the lyrics, you might dig the meter, the rhyme might catch your ear. You might say the message is whatever you make it, but your heart will surely hear. The time for deafness is done, for blindness behind us. Time to turn and be healed, as painful as that may be.

The truth is in the trees- the trees you see, read, eat, drink and smoke. The trees you built your walls and roof of, the trees that filter your air and recycle your water. The truth is we are well secured in this system but not without weakness; we rip at the womb because rebirth shakes to the core. The trees give their all and their reward is scorched earth. You want to see "love your enemy" at work? You need not look past the beginning, day 3, week 1.

You can be roses every one, you just gotta stand up from the dirt.
