The Au Revoir

As the sun goes down
I see both dreams and daydreams
Lighting the same stage

Equal in your eyes?
Your agreement making real
For dream and story?

Whispers of concern
Keep me from running headlong
For what might be lost?

Specifically who
If all fades to agreement
This golden shine lost

Not because it fades
But the eyes that see it do
Gold left in the dark

So I disagree
A delicate tightrope walk
As your eyes melt mine

For I miss those days
Of carnivals and fun games
But you are my prize

So we forge new paths
Fearless not meaning not sad
We will be happy
