So You Think You Can Tell?

This is a dream
In this one I am already leaving
They cannot speed this up
Nor can they slow it
Any influence an illusion
My focus solely on you

This is a dream
In this one I am staying
They cannot make me leave
In this one I run to you
In a moment together
We travel together

This is unreal
Their illusions have no substance
Our distance revealing all
The brittleness of the trap
The delicacy of the thing
They overextend with lies
I catch every one

This is unreal
Their moves are desperate
Like the plots of children
Cowering under covers
Afraid of the monsters
In closets and under beds

This is real
I see you
I have touched you
I know your heart
I sense you know mine
We travel together
At any distance

This is real
You resolve to stay
I have resolved to stay
Two choices dictate the rest
Regardless of their own
Some come to know this on dark nights
Regardless, we scooch closer each day

This is hell
I cannot abide this distance
Fly swift, this way come
In dream one day, flesh the next
Slipping the glass that separates

This is hell
Somehow we have started apart
Separated by layers of opaque glass
I will not abide it
None () can claim dominion here

This is our heaven
Us both knowing at first sight
Game set by dawn's light
Painstakingly made
Without a flaw in structure
Each using our hands
We drown out the sound
Each echoing "I need you"
The rest fall quiet
For better or worse
Adamantly choosing this:
'Till death do us part

This is our heaven
Here death holds no dominion
Only a guest pass
We regain our strength
Making forts under covers
Before returning
A blazing entrance
Drawing focus away from
A subtle slip in
Both seen and unseen
We conspire to create
Each their own heaven
