Unremarkable
I am trying to imagine a fate worse than this (summarized).
You wake with a shot from your perfect dream. You cannot fall back asleep. You have woken up to *gestures all around* this. You consider this real, the waking world, and, regardless of skill or intention, you cannot return to the moment that your path diverged from your perfect dream. This knowledge persists forever, inextricable from your consciousness, with the understanding of it only crystallizing over time.
Consciousness must either persist forever or at some point cease. Is this true of the subconscious as well?
