Origins of Grace

"That would be a sad state of affairs," I reply along the wire. "What of when there are no additional opportunities to provide grace within The Law? When every child has grown up, and every temporary state of ignorance, empathetically verifiable, has been exhausted, how is even a single broken reed meant to be forgiven, without room for grace? Where did grace even come from, conceptually, in a rigid system?"

Questions abound, perhaps in truly novel ways and locales. I can only assume, however, as one blind to the clockwork precession, but not deaf to the friction between gears.
