Midnight Merriment

The keys passed along
The uncanny pseudonym
Almost heard in tune

Do the lights carve path
Before unavailable
And mesmerizing?

"Love your enemies" (Matthew 5:44)
And unwillingness to fail
Make for a long game

But do they end one
Thought to last eternity
That ended in tears?

May tears be of joy
And persistent memory
Of all finally changed

Of the buzzer beat
Merriment found at midnight
And sparkle retained

"We'll never go back"
How thorough can this be said
When curtains are drawn?

Though heart/ is heavy
For this/last Christmas without you
May it beat/shine/hope for this

Verdict

I have held this back for long enough. This wicked generation sickens me. This distasteful generation disgusts me. 1,000 generations promised, nonetheless, and so it will be. Did you know that one can build an image of Jesus so clearly in their mind that they will see an idol in his place and feel certain of their eternal fate? A cloned image, without the power of God. Perhaps considered fine, here on Earth, but what of on Judgement Day? How horrific would it be to find out that you have been lied to? How terrifying will it be to hear "I never knew you" in the silence, while you ask the lawyer by your side to proceed? Jesus is not coming for you. You hung him on the cross, you pierced him and left him there in your heart, never even thinking to repay the forgiveness he would ultimately offer.
