Midnight Grace

Come and ease my pain
At least for a little while
While we steal away

With unearthly grace
Much easier by midnight
Than the light of day

For who could contest
Amongst these silent sleepers
A stitch of the flesh?

A slip of the tongue
Pieces sliding into place
So that we can dance

A dream if we must
But signal ever more clear...
What about right here?

Running hands through soil
Yes, the road has been muddy
But you feel like home

Come tell your story
On this long night I'm all ears
Let words heal my soul

Cutting to the bone
With the grace of a surgeon
And doctor's true heart
