Job and Fundamentally Strong Belief
Job 13:7-10 (Job speaking)
"Will you speak wickedly on God’s behalf?
Will you speak deceitfully for him?
Will you show him partiality?
Will you argue the case for God?
Would it turn out well if he examined you?
Could you deceive him as you might deceive a mortal?
He would surely call you to account
if you secretly showed partiality."
This is at the core of this:
1 Corinthians 3:12-15
If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.
This pairing is critical because it indicates that God has a specific image in store, and claiming falsely to adhere to that image, or adhering to another image (note, a less perfect image, by all Jesus indicated that God holds most precious, as the one being examined is God's image), will result in one being called to account, due to partiality being shown. God's image is not only good, merciful, loving, flawless, etc., but also technically and legally sound, so God will accept partially neither for nor against it.
It is not the expression of belief that builds a secure home. From this pairing it does not even seem to be honest belief that builds a secure home on this fundamental of a level, if the details of that belief is poorly founded. It is how accurate, how true, how resonant with God's heart and plan, that one's belief in God is that determines the strength of the materials that comprise the walls of their home. As stated, Jesus can save/rescue one who believes, but does not understand; if these beliefs are false, however, they are the one escaping through the flames of what they thought they had built. If one's belief is accurate, God may agree with it directly (my guess is burning away some dross in the process, but who am I to say for certain that this is required in every case?); this one is the builder who will receive a reward. Test your faith; your faith will be tested.
Matthew 18:19
"Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven."
