Earth's Shadows
Once in a blue moon
Or perhaps in tinge of red
Earth's shadow's seen twice
My mind rests to ease
As library adventures
Mix with ancient thought
Marvelling darkness
In a silence, out of time
Where there should be light
Shadows near and far
Did man wonder what they are?
Night and the eclipse?
When did mystery
With a glimmer tip its hand
Asking to be seen?
When did the clockwork
Move from unfathomable
To near horizon?
Those who watch the stars
In the right place and right time
Saw the cycle dance
Saw the moon obscured
Wondering about its path
And dreamed something more
