Lament for Days in Absence

Do not mistake calm
Silence in the disconnect
For satisfaction

There is a sadness
Delicately held by hope
To this serene state

To have seen true love
And spend any time without
Is bitter despair

Sometimes it is rage
But even as it matures
Pain muted still felt

Call this a lament
For all the days spent apart
Even to this day

A structured sadness
If not easily observed
Then clearly written

For I make my way
Suspicious of slighter waves
As absence persists

Take this as a sign
Though the surface stopped quaking
My heart remains yours
