"Answer Me." So I Speak

Love weighs heavily
A load felt most in absence
Singular absence

Why burden me so?
You had to know of its weight
That grows with distance

The stream bears witness
The river the accuser
Tidal wave, verdict

This is my answer
Such a singular burden
Love is my answer.

You know of my pain
You have expected this claim
You know it rings true

What would my life mean
Had I never glimpsed this love?
Hollow, so hollow.

This doubled edged sword
Sharpened each night, plunged at dawn
When she is not here

You wanted to know
These sharp words pull no punches
Still, I worship you
