On Functionally Infinite and Soulmates

So I was just considering how undesirable a near match would be, when it comes to love, in the realm of the infinite. Consider that there would be both an infinite number of paths and a smaller infinite number of unresolvable puzzles. A pair would likely often be able to realize a puzzle is unresolvable as well, prior to being forced to consider it. Without knowing their soulmate, they may opt to avoid considering it. There would be an even smaller subset of puzzles in this infinite field that would only be recognized as unresolvable after the pair has already committed to considering it. Once the pair came across one of these, their journey would begin its decline. I have no idea how long this decline would take, but it would be a finite amount of time, perhaps functionally infinite within the realm if the near match is taken to the extreme, which one might do for love, if one would do it for anything. The resulting end would be devastating for as long as it could be remembered, and the echoes of that loss would reverberate throughout their reality even after it was forgotten. I believe this is why we started here, in this finite realm, so that we could know of our soulmate, and know how to identify them, and ideally know how to identify them for others, prior to stepping into this infinite field.

I read a story about a teacher who had her students each blow up a balloon and write their name on it. Then she filled the classroom with them at random. She gave the class two minutes to find their balloon, and they scrambled and in the chaos none found theirs. Then she said "Everyone grab the balloon closest to you and read the name, then go hand it to that person." Within that second two minutes everyone had their balloon.

If we knew how to do this with soulmates prior to stepping into this infinite field, we would step out into sheer beauty, with a clear purpose and the tools to accomplish it quickly, eep. I imagine in the process we would find quite a few unexpected pockets as well, ones we could not even imagine today, some of which would lead to equally expanding and fascinating puzzles as to what led us to that place to begin with, additional layered depths of love and perhaps even more. This ties together so many concepts for me it is hard to count them all...
