Cages

Lock us in this cage
Secure for yourself this realm
Mind not our smiles

What is a prison?
Besides a dividing line
To mark yours from mine

I never liked them
To my God they matter not
But do what you must

I would have chosen
A different set of boundaries
But then I like space

Some may feel cozy
In this small dark box you've made
With us as your prey

I hope you find peace
Given solitude and time
And that she finds you

For this will reverse
In fact it already has
A dozen days back

We each have our choice
We craft for ourselves our chains
And for no one else
