Shining in the Darkness

That morning chains fell
A glorious echoing
Within closed off halls

The prisoners learned
They did not lose their bastions
Or their comfy cells

Instead they could leave
While a piece of them remained
Securely at home

So spirits went out
Yet untouchable by darkness
Braved fully the dream

They echoed the call
That had woken them this night
It was of pure joy

Singular blessing
Of Christmas and Thanksgiving
A promise fulfilled

It was these humble
Who the world had overlooked
Now flooding the stage

Bright eyes opening
Sources of darkness blinded
Hope shining within
