The Garden Gate

From verdant to white
To make clear the boundary
To mark my bedside

It's overwhelming
So much to learn this summer
My dreams keep shifting

But she keeps coming
Sneaking in for measurements
Do you stretch the truth?

Do you hope it stretches?
Or is capacity reached?
Allswell that ends well

Do you count the cost
Night after night devoted
To eternal fate?

Question and answer
Simplified to symmetry
Past lessons now learned

It might take all night
To muster a single word
May my tongue slip true

And may you be filled
To the brim with something new
And the seed of hope
