The Enchanted Angel
Imagine a world where a real life superhero walked along us. With one look she can tell if you are in love and to what degree. With one touch she will be able to identify your soulmate once she sees them. She has a photographic memory, and ability to spy faces anywhere. Once she touches your soulmate as well, you two see each other in a dream, and it is only a matter of time before you meet.
She loves love, so day after day she does this, but she can't help feel a sting each time she does as she is never the one, only the gateway to true love. One Valentine's Day she resigns herself to her fate, a lonely angel.
The very next day a man arrives, in true love, and she cannot help but feel that familiar rush (she loves love after all, and the lovers are no exception), but this one is sharper than most. She does her best to avoid contact, selfishly hoping to preserve a memory of him for herself, but his persistence is cute, and ultimately irresistible. She dives in, and that night runs through her memory, then scours the internet for people he knows, and eventually just starts scanning dreams for who he is meant to be with so this building feeling can be over. She paces her room, still unable to find his match. 2am comes and she has searched everywhere. She knows she is not wrong, but she doesn't know how this is possible.
She sits on the bed, thinking it over for a moment. Then she does the one thing she promised herself she'd never do again in this situation: she goes to the mirror, and tests herself. Rather than the familiar outline marking herself as a failed match, or the result she hoped to find, all she sees is a familiar look in her own eyes. She blushes to consider a stranger had done this, to her of all people.
There was one more thing she could try. She removes the bracelet from the bag, slips it on her wrist, reads the note- he had made finding him easy. She closes her eyes and away she goes.
