Wedding Night

This castle still stands
The walls work inside and out
The gates lock both ways

The halls are empty
Once lined with treasures and books
Just one soul remains

He sought to plunder
That which he knew was not his
Most prized possession

For a time he did
He thought it was forever
So he closed the gates

But it was a dream
Regarding her anyway
Her source was outside

So when they locked shut
Locks meant to be eternal
Her image faded

And try as he might
His hands could not reopen
What villainy made

"I never knew him
It could be he never was
Some stories persist."
