Summer Rain

The first summer rains
Humidity encroaching
A drop hits my nose

I always liked rain
Nowadays I think of you
Where did we go wrong?

Did I do something?
Curse this spotty memory
Maybe not enough?

Rain comes pouring down
Lightning striking while I sleep
Days pass just the same

Everything's a blur
When nothing piques your interest
I've been here before

Not even the rain
Cools this raging inferno
Just beneath my skin

Bring me words of hope
I miss you way too much now
To be on my own

My last dollar gone
You've stolen my heart with it
Raindrops on the roof
