Down From The Mountain

I return from heights
I never thought I would see
Still empty handed

I walk with head down
Hoping you will forgive me
If I can find you

You open the door
I did not expect you here
You rush toward me

I saw this too soon
But now I see it clearly
Your eternal love

It's better than mine
Such a tumultuous ride
How can you hang on?

Your arms flung around
My eyes open with a start
I am not sleeping

I still know the path
I've come away with a name
A simple signpost

I am tired now
Can you find it in your heart
To whisper comfort?
