Sinister Interjection

The Phoenix responds
Not with words but in fire
Immolating all

I shoot her a glance
Pain fades but the flames remain
Burning their treasures

Now their hunger grows
I feel it matches my own
Twixt heaven and hell

"Bring a good partner"
The dream echoes in my mind
Burned into my soul

Now she burns in them
Not with flames, but a question
Who is your soulmate?

They drop to their knees
All now painfully aware
Sharing my burden

Ninety seven, three
They scatter for their answers
I feel whole again

Solipsish Silence
The other side of the coin
Lying on the ground
