Two Dozen Red Roses in a Black and White World

  • Isn’t it funny
How the spotlight can blind you
A million fans shouting your name
Drowning out the call you long to hear
My green eyes fixed on you for so long
But my face lost in the crowd
So I take to the fields of plenty
To find myself and a gift to catch your eye
I gather two dozen red roses
In this black and white word
To some it may seem funny
How a man with no name to speak of
    Can assume so much
Of the eyes of their beloved shining blue above the crowd
But the contrast strikes me like a match
Burning bright to spark one hope
That I’ve been right all along
Amidst the blue in grey there lies a subtle sadness
The hopeful solitude of a true connection
So I take to the lonely road
With a hopeful gift to pierce dull obscurity
I come with two dozen red roses
In this black and white word
And as you hear these words it seems funny
‘Cuz I swear you remember being here before
And still not knowing how this song will end
No one can stop me from giving you this gift
So I take to the empty stage
    To present my truest gift
    I reveal two dozen roses
And pray tonight you hear me
I see myself in a black and white world
    Holding two dozen roses
