A Dream
Quiet day with dad
When a ginger saunters in
I introduce them
I lay there in shock
He throws on Polar Express
We watch in silence
Asylum granted
As the irony sinks in
To this encounter
Now doubting logic
Of the everyday world
Of stars and angels
Could a touch dictate
Or perhaps two and a half
A divide in life?
Reality's gap
In whose mind is it minded?
How long must it be?
I now mind the task
As things crumble around me
Lacking strength to hold
There is no more try
Pick up this burden or don't
But I will drop it
