Base 12 in Numbers

Numbers 7 shifted from repetitive to almost eerie this read for me, and it seems intended to do so. In it, a representative from each of the 12 tribes brings an identical offering:

Numbers 7:13-17
His offering was one silver plate weighing a hundred and thirty shekels and one silver sprinkling bowl weighing seventy shekels, both according to the sanctuary shekel, each filled with the finest flour mixed with olive oil as a grain offering; one gold dish weighing ten shekels, filled with incense; one young bull, one ram and one male lamb a year old for a burnt offering; one male goat for a sin offering; and two oxen, five rams, five male goats and five male lambs a year old to be sacrificed as a fellowship offering.

Numbers 7:84-88
These were the offerings of the Israelite leaders for the dedication of the altar when it was anointed: twelve silver plates, twelve silver sprinkling bowls and twelve gold dishes. Each silver plate weighed a hundred and thirty shekels, and each sprinkling bowl seventy shekels. Altogether, the silver dishes weighed two thousand four hundred shekels, according to the sanctuary shekel. The twelve gold dishes filled with incense weighed ten shekels each, according to the sanctuary shekel. Altogether, the gold dishes weighed a hundred and twenty shekels. The total number of animals for the burnt offering came to twelve young bulls, twelve rams and twelve male lambs a year old, together with their grain offering. Twelve male goats were used for the sin offering. The total number of animals for the sacrifice of the fellowship offering came to twenty-four oxen, sixty rams, sixty male goats and sixty male lambs a year old. These were the offerings for the dedication of the altar after it was anointed.

As I was reading through again, I began to zone out like I do in such sections, but this section is the most repetitive from what I recall. I began to remember my train of thought the last time I read it- aloud- and thinking that God does not waste words. If it is obvious to me that you could instead have said "they all brought the same package," then it is obvious to God. This means that something beyond the words is being conveyed.

In this mindset, it was like I could feel this "zone" that I had zoned out into as tangible in some way. It did not feel like my standard imagination, but more like a threshold, more familiar when falling asleep. This zone coalesced just out of sight, as a dim pathway that registered as a forest, with 12 identical trees. I considered how unlikely it would be to come across such a place naturally, as it almost felt like I had arrived where intended, but with Jamais Vu. I was still considering this, when I got to the end, and the last verse coalesced the concept.

Numbers 7:8-9
When Moses entered the tent of meeting to speak with the Lord, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the atonement cover on the ark of the covenant law. In this way the Lord spoke to him.

I was already starting to see this concept take shape, but this verse was an immediate focus lens, hyperbolically. This appears to be a cog to allow for the adjustment to a base 12 system on a subconscious level. The numbers are presented 12 times and then multiplied for the reader. By memorizing the text, one encodes the function of 12, likely in the same way that most humans encode the base system of 10 as children, but on the other side of the lim line. By assigning names and stories to those who brought the items, and assigning materials and shapes to the numbers as items, weights and measures, a stable zone in one's mind can be established and operate independently of one's standard base model.

The subconscious brain fills this constructed space with a narrative- mine being the 12 trees- then the node can be engaged at a future point. Something about seeing this section as a mental focus lens, juxtaposed with the last line of this chapter drew back to mind my concept of a walkie talkie. There may be a number of complex and unusual seeming steps to establishing communication with God in a stable and permanent way, but without it what is the purpose of accomplishing anything else?
