37/137

I have considered recently, within the last month or so, the significance of 37 being the most common "random" number chosen by humans, between 1 and 100 (inspired by Veritasium). I eventually came up with the notion that each sentient species might have its own distinct number, which can be illuminated in the same way, by asking for something "random." It felt like this number and discovery process was a clue somehow, to the inner workings of the brain, and how it processes tasks on a core level. The result that a number would come up at "most random," consistently, indicates that this processing method is not random, but also that whatever governs it is more fundamental than personal experience factors, when determining a number to generate. As this process seems to generate the same result regardless of "nurture" within individuals/groups, then the appearance of 37 would be part of human "nature," which is to say it is genetic. Whether it is a genetic function of all brains, or exclusively human brains, is the focus of my thought experiment, regarding each species having their own "number," in this position.

Yesterday I watch a video regarding the Fine Structures Constant (inspired by PBS), ~1/137, which is a number that actually appears, on its own, in the universe. When I say "on its own," it appears in multiple calculations, as a dimensionless number, meaning that it is an inherent value/ratio within reality, at a minimum within the universe. The presenter even indicated that this value was likely higher, earlier in the universe's lifespan. I believe that he said it was 1, or nearly so, initially , and, if it dropped to 0, matter and electromagnetism would not exist (I take this to mean that nothing is not natural, within our universe, and perhaps within reality at large). He theorized that there might be many iterations of the universe, each with different inherent values- like 1/137- perhaps running contemporaneously. It is hard to fathom how these other iterations would work, because this number feels balanced on the head of a pin, with even a 4% change prohibiting life as we know it.

What if our own perspective ties fundamentally to this value, however, which is why it feels unchangeable? What if the arrangement of the environment around us takes shape off of two positions rather than only one: self and other? If this were the case, then the expression of "random" within humans would be a clue as to the "location" of consciousness (logical, mathematical location, rather than physical), as well as the inherent value within the environment that humans find themselves in, but other paired values might also work, and might even reconcile into a universe that looks equivalent, perhaps identical, to our own, despite a neutral observer measuring that one arrangement was 37/137, and the other was 42/142, or some such.

In my pursuit of the understanding of nothing, I have imagined realm crafting to a thorough degree. The aim of such selfless crafting is to see what must exist, if one's own influence is removed. I imagine that God did something along these lines when creating mankind, leaving us with that seed which blooms unpredictable thought (freewill), which is the piece that must exist, externally. It felt as though 37 represented this piece somehow, and I was glad to find something, seemingly novel, within the system. When I then heard that the universe itself has its own version of this kind of shadow of nothing, a value that was discovered in the spaces between rather than assigned to something tangible, my mind ignited at the possibilities. 

I have proposed the idea of the parley, a paired reality crafting that is compulsory, a way of imagining interacting with another on a fundamental level. There is limitless potential within this parley process, but also equivalent peril. I have spent a lot of energy, both consciously and subconsciously, trying to identify the rules, procedures, steps of this process, in the hopes that, when it fully occurs, the result is beautiful, meaningful, and not horrific. I imagined a parley between two, with very little going into the process, beginning with binary.

If this were the extent of the parley, with the rest of the experience proceeding, based on the rules of the system generated between these perspectives, then we could end up in the position we are in now, with self most likely to say 37, for reasons not entirely clear, when asked to generate a number between 1 and 100, and the other still presenting 1/137 as their "move." I feel as though examining the parley helps illustrate the point that, if 42 were said in place of 37, the present states of reality in each case could appear identical, from the perspective of each parley participant, while being markedly different, from the perspective of an external observer. 

What if the only thing provided externally was the number, but the other details were a point to point parley? I can picture God establishing such a complex system and then observing, essentially assigning themselves a number only once the decision on where to establish "home" was made, and then merging with that physical universe. I am picturing the collapsing or recategorization the rest, in some way or another, like how quantum computers will collapse fields into a single result.
