From Zero to Nothing

I realized at lunch today, while discussing the importance of zero in mathematics, that the significance of zero being a mathematical representation of nothing, rather than nothing directly, is astounding. Math, from my layman's understanding, is the most rigorous (technical?) field when it comes to proof, surpassing physics's rigor substantially. Logically this makes sense, as physics is expressed in/founded upon mathematics rather than vice versa. I have heard it said that mathematics is the language of the universe, and I have even pictured it being a common language between mankind and God, where agreement could be struck between the two parties, if mankind became fluent enough in its usage. This structure made the realization that nothing would, in a sense, would be more fundamental than zero- but it could be argued that how it is more fundamental is determinable, in a way- all the more astounding. I landed on the idea that physics is to mathematics as mathematics is to nothing, at least along the pillar of zero.

I know that I have brought this point up before, but nothing is outside of God's direct reach. This is to say that everything is within God's reach, but also that nothing is outside of God's reach. This may sound like a shenanigan, a simple and meaningless loophole of language, but my dwelling on the concept of nothing has shown me otherwise. In Creation, man can add nothing; there is nothing new under the sun, and this addition is critical, as it means the sum of Creation is not static, despite omnipotence/omniscience inherent. This concept is hard to grasp without analogy so, in terms of binary, this would be God adding 1 to the equation, representing everything, and man adding 0, representing nothing. Even this analogy is incomplete though, as God could insert zero into our mathematics, but God cannot add nothing to the equation of Creation.

I'm now realizing that this relates back to my imagined dark cave, and talking into it long enough that it eventually talked back, with a will of its own. I am now picturing God doing this very thing in the creation of Adam, except the dark cave was carefully built around (via the brain, most likely) so that the cave, or on this case void, could respond immediately. This kind of precise echolocation architecture is not something that I have the capacity to make, but I can picture God making it without issue, in essence drawing out responses from the void, its personality, its soul, represented in Adam. In this way freewill would not be an illusion held in place by grace, an idea that I have danced around, but real in so far that freewill could exist within Creation as long as the structures providing it shape existed within Creation. It is still unclear if God would use this method or not though at the outset, because if man's will and God's will directly ever directly oppose each other (fundamentally), the only option would be full separation, which feels like it would be irreparably catastrophic on both sides. Besides, despite all the permutations within the equation, the original pieces still fit, so it feels like the equation at large would not cease cycling (but I imagine that God has such alternate endings covered already, from a timeless and never-to-be-agreed-upon perspective). I believe the closest biblical record of this occurring was at the flood, and that Jesus blocked this as an actual possibility.

Essentially this image builds upon the idea that nothing is the singular most valuable thing that can be introduced into Creation, and only a man can do it, as separate on some level from Creation, almost like nothing's ambassador here. Women in this equation would add something else with equivalent value, but each position feels critical and unique here, and the order feels precise as well: Creation-> Nothing-> ??? Though, considering this on a surface level, from a timeless perspective each side may be adding their piece to the final puzzle simultaneously... It honestly helps on this level for me to consider everything and everyone else to be God though, and blinders focusing me on nothing seem to be critical to examination at the depth as well, which is why I do not presume or examine the role of women in this at any depth, though I am quite curious... At the core of this idea I am essentially an essential echo from the void (my consciousness), operating in a labyrinth designed to amplify my voice, beneath my notice (brain), and wandering around in a foreign land (Creation), in a vessel custom made to fit my fundamental shape (body). An interesting perspective gained/solidified over lunch today, at any rate.
