Knowledge
Isaiah 33:6
He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.
I just reread this verse and remembered that "salvation" is Jesus, by name, Wisdom, is referenced in Proverbs 8, but this verse makes it feel like "knowledge" may be a third (child, of God?) to find, if one continues with the idea of The Word becoming flesh.
I looked up the word in Hebrew and saw immediately that it is used in Daniel, in a verse I had often wondered about, it always felt like it stood out as a mystery:
Daniel 12:4
"But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.”
I have been having many dreams and notions recently, and over the past couple of years, of the end times being a period just before rebirth on a holistic scale, and being similar to the development of a fetus in the womb. This process is not simple, and it is clear in the world that these times are tumultuous in many ways. Part of this idea is that many will need to rally together to accomplish the task, even if they only do so on a subconscious level, and in reading Daniel 12:4 again this image of people running to and fro felt visible in my mind, a mind often without visual imagery suddenly filled- this verse finally felt like it made sense.
I will leave you with a couple other references to knowledge in the Old Testament, often coupled with wisdom. There is certainly more to say, but at least for now I will leave it at saying that this revelation is very exciting to me.
Proverbs 2:1-11
My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.
Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair—every good path.
For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.
Proverbs 14:6
The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none,
but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.
Genesis 2:9
The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 3:6
When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
I include these last references to the tree of knowledge and the fruit being desirable for gaining wisdom because it almost strikes me as an either/or scenario, but one very subtly introduced here. It reminds me of some of the last chapters of Two Dozen Roses- The Bard's Christmas Story, where a similar situation is encountered, but instead of eating of the fruit I decide to plant it in my soulmate's yard. It really feels as if I have been on this quest (for "knowledge") for some time, without consciously realizing the full scope of what I sought.
