Both Treasure and Treasure Hunter

It's funny, I recently quoted the parable of the treasure and the field, as well as the merchant and the pearl. The wording of these two parables always struck me as odd, because while on the surface they sound like pretty much the same story repeated, and perhaps are often interpreted as such, the analogy is a step different in each.

Matthew 13:44
"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field"

Matthew 13:45
"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls."

First: treasure
Second: treasure hunter

This juxtaposition of analogies has sparked a whole new line of thinking for me, one that pairs analogies in a way that makes the focused on subject both actor and object. I have been seeing this in so many things since then that I thought I would share, as especially this idea of the kingdom of heaven (not those in it, but the kingdom itself) actively seeking us feels overlooked. Frankly I did not know what to make of it for the longest time and so I let it slip into my subconscious, but now it blooms as a way of coupling concepts, crafting realms, and intrinsically viewing the same subject in two different ways at once. Something about this pattern sparkles, like a wise woman holding a lantern still lit after a night so long, like The Word made flesh.
