When God Lies
I have been considering this for a bit and realized that while it seems reasonable that we will not see God lie in this lifetime, and God will not lie in our reality, it seems more and more obvious that God can lie, and if God does so, God may do it for a specific purpose.
I have heard it said that if God were to be found false, even once, that reality itself would cease to be. This would actually be a fantastic reality coder's tool, if you think about it. The confines of the reality spoken of would be the realm of the Law, given our perspective. But even so, God would not cease to be, creation would just become like a frozen computer program because a fundamental error in processing would have occurred. We would not have any warning of this by the way; for us nothing would happen, we would each cease to perceive anything in this state. In this state God could alter certain details to avoid the events that brought reality to that point, rewind time to some degree, manipulate the future outcomes as needed, and then allow reality (the program) to start again.
I began thinking of this because what if this is why the Apocalypse in Revelation is written in such dire terms? What if God knows a perfect outcome can be acheived that matches those criteria, but that those criteria would occur regardless of the outcome, in this reality. God may have wanted such high stakes so that the choice would be easy for one who loves us all through and through, to decide to lie (refusing to fulfill the promise of destruction in this case) rather than doom everyone/anyone. If this actually does cause reality to freeze in this way, it would be a very kind and expedient way of handling things that need to be changed, rather than having to use the other technique I discussed of finishing an entire timeline, rolling it up like a scroll, and then editing the next iteration of reality to match what needed changing. It also avoids anyone needing to experience the worst of the events, and eliminates the need for God to actually witness them in the way we would understand witnessing.
Why would Jesus stand in intercession to prevent one woman from getting stoned for sin she committed, only to throw countless masses into the lake of fire for eternal punishment? If torturing one you love does not sound appealing to you, how much less so would it for Jesus? And if you think God's plans is to consentually alter your understanding of love to include eternal torture, why not entertain the idea that events might be editable as well before said torture even needs to occur?
So in the end, God is capable of lies, but we are incapable of perceiving a reality in which God has lied and so we are incapable, as it stands in the realm of the Law, of seeing God lie. I could see this being a clever tool, when combined with an end God simply refuses to see, to effortlessly force a pause so that events can be edited to get reality back on course. By this logic though, I cannot conceive how we could ever know the difference between this mechanism being in place and being in use, verses no mechanism like this being in place, but God having arranged reality perfectly the first time from the very outset. From our perspective within the realm these two things seem functionally identical, but perhaps such differences in approach, or at least the availability of such tools, would contribute to the shape of the next age.
